Rhode Home Rescue

Who are we?

Rhode Home Rescue specializes in rescuing dogs from unhealthy situations – be it kill shelters, incapable owners, and surrenders – and finding them the furever homes they deserve.  At Rhode Home, we fully believe that adopting a rescue not only save them, but saves you too!

Our Organization

Rhode Home Rescue is an all volunteer, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization whose volunteers have many years of rescue experience. Our mission is to identify and rescue all types of dogs from overwhelmed euthanasia shelters and abusive situations and place them in secure, loving homes. We are a foster-based program, consisting of all volunteers, and have decided to branch out on our own in order to fulfill our mission.

Prior to a Rhode Home Rescue dog being adopted, each dog undergoes an examination by a veterinarian, is updated on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. At Rhode Home Rescue we firmly believe that a healthy, well trained dog is the key to the successful integration of a rescued dog and ensures a wonderful, loving companion for years to come.

The average cost to rescue a dog in 2012 was $720. Rhode Home Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization and 100% of donations and fees are used for the rescue and care of these dogs!

Since our humble beginning in 2016, RHR has enjoyed the following milestones:

  • Rhode Home Rescue is a top notch Pet Adoption Agency. We recently adopted a beautiful Black Female Pomeranian, originally named Raven, now called Lily. We were very fortunate to have been contacted by our wonderful RHR Volunteers Julie P. and Raven's/Lily's foster mom, Shelli-Rose, who both made us feel so welcomed and appreciated. We are very lucky to have Lily in our home with our other Pomeranians Rocky II and Randy. furever grateful, Suzanne and Paul Walker

  • Met an adoptable dog on a Wednesday when she was with her current Foster. Contacted Rhode Home Rescue and immediately applied for adoption. Here I am Saturday night with a little nugget. Quick, professional and charismatic. Everyone I dealt with that was part of Rhode Home Rescue was delightful. There was a dog adoption event (where we actually got to take her home) this morning from 11-2. It was about 95 degrees out and humid. These volunteers were giving every ounce of love and energy they had to potential parents and the dogs. It was pretty awesome. I am thankful for a pleasant experience from beginning to end.

  • My Family and I found the team at Rhode Home Rescue very easy to work with which was important to us since we were first time dog adopters! We told them what we thought we wanted out of the experience of adopting a rescue and they helped us find our Lucy! She is the perfect fit for our family and the volunteers at RHR helped us make the transition from dogless to a dog loving house!

  • I am so happy to have adopted Siri. We love her so much! Everyone at the rescue is professional and caring towards the animals and the people who want to adopt. Thank you to the people that helped us through the adoption process and the family who fostered our little girl.

  • RHR has been incredible to work with! This was our first foray into adopting and rescuing a new pet and it was absolutely awesome! From the start, my inquiry email, all the way through picking up our newest fella, they were just terrific to work with and communicate with! I would recommend them highly and frequently! (in fact, I have! two of our friends are in the process of adopting now too!) Saving this puppy's life has been a gift beyond measure and partnering with RHR to get that done was the best decision we made! Thank you, RHR ... thank you! <3

  • We just brought our puppo Cotton home from Rhode home. Not only is she the best thing since sliced bread but the staff and volunteers at Rhode Home were clearly invested in her and loved her. She was well loved on her way to us. 10/10 would recommend.
