Rhode Home Rescue
Who are we?
Rhode Home Rescue specializes in rescuing dogs from unhealthy situations – be it kill shelters, incapable owners, and surrenders – and finding them the furever homes they deserve. At Rhode Home, we fully believe that adopting a rescue not only save them, but saves you too!

Our Organization
Rhode Home Rescue is an all volunteer, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization whose volunteers have many years of rescue experience. Our mission is to identify and rescue all types of dogs from overwhelmed euthanasia shelters and abusive situations and place them in secure, loving homes. We are a foster-based program, consisting of all volunteers, and have decided to branch out on our own in order to fulfill our mission.
Prior to a Rhode Home Rescue dog being adopted, each dog undergoes an examination by a veterinarian, is updated on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. At Rhode Home Rescue we firmly believe that a healthy, well trained dog is the key to the successful integration of a rescued dog and ensures a wonderful, loving companion for years to come.
The average cost to rescue a dog in 2012 was $720. Rhode Home Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization and 100% of donations and fees are used for the rescue and care of these dogs!

Volunteering at RHR really helped me make a difference. By giving these pups a good home, I gain experience for when I am going to be a Veterinary Assistant. The best part at each adoption event is knowing their personalities by studying the behaviors and making to friends. 🙂

I never imagined feeling so supported throughout the adoption process and beyond. RHR is professional, honest and extremely helpful, and proves to only want the best for the dogs that go through their care. I would recommend RHR to anyone seriously interested in rescue/adoption.

Rhode Home Rescue is a top notch Pet Adoption Agency. We recently adopted a beautiful Black Female Pomeranian, originally named Raven, now called Lily. We were very fortunate to have been contacted by our wonderful RHR Volunteers Julie P. and Raven's/Lily's foster mom, Shelli-Rose, who both made us feel so welcomed and appreciated. We are very lucky to have Lily in our home with our other Pomeranians Rocky II and Randy. furever grateful, Suzanne and Paul Walker

Rhode Home Rescue is amazing because the people who work there care so much for the dogs they rescue. I think the environment they create for dogs is a huge part of their success in a home transition. I have rescued from there and would recommend them to anyone looking to adopt!

I don't think there are enough words to describe my experience with RHR but, here a few, amazing, phenomenal and understanding. We adopted two puppies this weekend. Duke who is full of energy and spunk and Kira who is a ball of mush and love. Hillary, Dukes foster mom was also amazing. She and RHR answered all of our questions and responded to emails promptly. I would highly recommend adopting or fostering your puppy through RHR.

We went to the adoption event and filled out the application on the way there. We were approved for the dog we wanted, signed some paperwork and took him home that day! We have two young children and were trying to find a shelter that would adopt a small dog to us, and weren’t having much luck even though our kids are very dog savvy. RHR met our kids, let us hold the dog, did not pressure us one way or the other, and despite there being 20 or so dogs there and a bunch of families, they kept it organized, fluid and quick. We are thrilled with our new family member. You guys, these people VOLUNTEER to do this... to meet trucks of dogs at all hours of the night to take them home to foster. Most of the time multiple dogs to one foster, dogs that haven’t had it very easy and are scared and dirty and who most likely wouldn’t have lived through the shelter they were pulled from. This is grueling, heart wrenching, valuable work. Please adopt. Validate this work and give these poor things a warm bed and a full bowl of food.

Thank you Rhode Home for everything you are doing to help pets in need find homes! We adopted Frankie (Formally known as Nova) last weekend and I'm sure there was a lot of behind the scenes work to get her to us! We filled out an application online and then when we arrived at adoption event all of our information was in the system and process went super smooth. Enough about logistics though! Frankie is an absolute beauty and all her health needs were up to date and she is an absolute joy to have in our home.
